Methods of well digging

  • Well are successful in area where a layer of coarse sand is found within 30 feet below the ground surface.
  • Well can be dug by 3 methods:

A) In the 1st method, digging is continued until a good water bearing stratum is found. A wall of brick in cement mortar or wall with 18” – 24” thickness is constructed.

B) In 2nd method, one concrete ring is placed over another ring and the soil inside the ring is excavated. The process of adding a ring and taking the soil out is continued till a water bearing zone is found.

C) In 3rd method, a small pit is dug and the precast concrete ring of 6” is lowered. The process of taking out the soil from inside the ring and lowering the ring is repeated till the water bearing stratum is obtained.
