Seed quality

  • Seed is said to be quality if it is scientifically produced (under the supervision of seed certifying agency) and is distinctly superior in terms of genetic purity or varietal purity, free from admixture of weeds and other crop seeds, seed health, high germination and vigor, seed treatment and safe moisture content etc.

Quality seed

  • To become a quality seed, it should pass a certain standard fixed for certified seeds by the seed certifying agency.
  • It implies that if a seed lot meets the certification standards, it is good quality seed and if does not, it is obviously a lower quality seed.
