Control measures for innovative control method

  1. Insect Attractants:
  • Attractants are those chemicals bringing positive response by insects through olfactory stimulation that orient them to the source of food, host plants, or opposite sexes.

 

  1. Insect Repellents:
  • Substances that prevent damage by making food or living condition unattractive for the pests are known as insect repellents.
  • Insect repellents are broadly categorized as physical and chemical repellents.

 

  1. Antifeedants:
  • Antifeedants are those chemicals that inhibit feeding when applied or present in plants and in its absence, insects would feed.
  • Triazenes: It is non-toxic to insects but inhibit feeding in chewing insects like caterpillars.
  • Organotins: Antifeedant for leaves feeding insects.
  • Carbomates: Antifeedant for leaves feeding insects. baygon acts as a systemic antifeedant to the cotton boll worm.
