Watering and manuring

  • In Places having severe winter, watering once a week during that period may be sufficient.
  • During the summer months watering three times a day may be necessary.
  • During this period syringing of the leaves with fine spray or water two or three times a day will be beneficial.
  • Since there is limited soil in a bonsai container manuring is absolutely needed for proper vegetative growth and to encourage flowering or fruiting.
  • Generally, manuring is done twice a year, once during the spring and again during the rainy season.
  • For vigorous-growing plants, manuring once a month during the growing season, followed by watering is better but too much manicuring should be avoided as this may cause soft and sappy growth.

Repotting

  • The repotting operation is necessary at a certain time/year interval but it depends upon the
  • growing habit of the specimen.
  • The fast-growing plants will need repotting every year while the slow growing ones may be repotted every two or three years.
