- Hybrid Tea (HT) Rose: Major characteristics
- Blooms longer period than Hybrid perpetual.
- Blooms in long canes as solitary flower.
- Elongated flower buds and slow opening of flowers.
- They have good keeping quality.

Tea Rose x Hybrid perpetual à Hybrid Tea (HT) Rose
Note: The first Hybrid Tea Rose, La france, was developed by Guillot in France in 1867 by crossing above roses.
- Floribundas:
- Produce flowers in clusters (Polyanthus) and look like a bouquet.
- Flowers are smaller than HT Rose.
- Comparatively shorter vase life than HT rose.

Hybrid Tea Rose x Dwarf Polyanthas à Floribundas
Note: Floribundas were developed by crossing HT rose and Dwarf Polyanthas and crossing was done
by Danish breeder Poulsen in 1912. First variety was ‘Rodhate’

- Used as edging, pot culture and window boxes.
- Small leaves and flowers.
- Hardy and multiplied by cutting.
- Introduced from China.
Baby Gold Star – Yellow color
Cinderella – White color
Fairy – Pink color
Little Flert – Red color
- Climber and Rambler Rose: Climber and Rambler roses require support.
- Climber rose: CLG Virgu (white), Golden Shower (Yellow)
- Rambler rose: Only one flush in a year but lasts longer.
American Pillar – Red with yellow canes.
Albertine – Pink.
- Shrub Roses (Continuous flowering):
- Varieties are Butterfly Wings (white), Carefree Beauty (Pink), Formation, Cocktail (Red), Lucea (Yellow) etc.
Importance and uses
- Most favored flower for garden decoration and landscaping
- Rose flowers can fulfill the requirement of shrubs, climbers, hedges and bedding flowers.
- Commonly used as cut flowers and loose flowers. Other commercial aspects of the rose cultivation are the extraction of the essential oil, rose water etc. Scented roses like Rosa alba, R. barboniana, R. antifolia, R. moschata are useful for this purpose.
