Introduction

• A nursery is a place where various types of plants are propagated, raised, maintained and sold to
• the consumer.
• Ornamental nursery specializes in the preparation, multiplication and growing of ornamental plant and flowers of high economic and market potential.
• Nursery management require expertise and specialized knowledge about the biology of the plants; appropriate methods of preparation; optimum cultural and environmental requirements of the plants for their normal growth and development.
• A nursery may produce plants for sales to retail stores, while others may grow their own plants for sales at nursery, or some nursery may grow plants for landscape contractor.

Types of nurseries

In Nepal, basically two types of nurseries

a.Wholesale nursery: not to the customer, to the nursery, landscape contractor etc.

b. Retail nursery: Sale their products to the general public or customer.

c. Other special type of nursery

Mail nursery- not practiced in Nepal.

Landscape contractor nursery- not practiced in Nepal.
