Introduction

  • Lawn is a natural green carpet. It is an integral part of landscape design.
  • A garden without a lawn is not considered complete.
  • Lawn provides a place for taking rest after tiring job of the day, holding patties, and social functions, passive and active recreation.
  • It harmonies with the surroundings and provides a natural green color.

Selection of site and soil

  • The obvious space for a lawn should be wide open, with access to direct sunlight, which
  • may be a solitary place in a corner of the building specially in front of a rockery and a water
  • Choosing the size and shape of the lawn (geometrically shaped or not)
  • Preparation of land (digging, leveling and enriching the soil with organic matter or by amending with fertile soil)
  • Manipulation of soil pH, ideal pH (5.5-7) is appropriate range (very acidic or alkaline soil can be adjusted by adding 500g/m2 grounded limestone or gypsum respectively).
  • Before planting the lawn, preparation of ground bed and drainage is necessary: slope of the ground should be 1 m below per 150 m towards the natural direction of drainage.
  • If ground is too large, protective drainage with clay pipes of suitable diameter and length are laid (underground) with sufficient discharge opening at low level.
