Care of Seedlings

➢A shady but well aerated location promotes the growth of seedling.

➢ The seedlings are watered daily and during the summer months they may be sprayed with water twice a day.

➢ Feeding with a week concentration of fertilizer solution is recommended.

Watering

➢ Slightly acidic water at an optimum temperature performs well but it depends factors like weather, type and size of pot, material used, growth habit and condition of plant.

➢Newly potted should not water frequently, increase at growth and decrease after flowering.

Nutrition

➢ Organic manures are used for feeding. Various types of organic manures are used depending upon the factors like species, plant health and stage of growth.

➢ Improved by a regular schedule of fertilizing in liquid form of cow, sheep or fowl manure once a month.

➢ Application dilute urine (1:10, urine and water) is beneficial.

➢ One kg of cake is soaked for rotting in 50 liter (10 gallon) of water and used at fortnightly or Beer one quarter of gallon (1.137 lit.) per 10 gallons of water is good.

Harvesting

➢ Orchid flowers are cut at a fully mature stage when their tissues hardened.

➢ If cut at bud stage do not open fully and wither soon

➢ Orchid flowers do not mature until 3-4 days after they open.

➢ Harvested when 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% flower open.

➢ Evening harvest is beneficial.
