About Lesson
Storage of Medicinal Plants
- Dry extracts are usually very homogenous and should therefore be ground, mixed under conditions, which exclude moisture as much as possible.
- Intermediate and end products must also be stored under dry conditions.
- Packaging the products in suitable moisture tight synthetic foils has proven a good method for this.
- The general requirement of packaging materials are as follows:
a) Economical or low cost
b) Impermeable as glass or metal or with acceptable permeability to moisture, gases, volatile solvents, etc.
c) Non-reactive
d) Easy to manufacture in a wide range of shapes
e) Easy to decorate and or print by a range of processes
f) Able to optimize use of space when stacked or during transportation.
