Planting, soil and water management

  • Depending upon planting distance, spot or point is marked in the field
  • Appropriate pit size ranging from 30-60 cm2 depending upon fruit species is dug out
  • While digging pit upper half portion soil is kept on left side and the bottom half soil is kept in another side
  • The pit is exposed to sun at least for 15 days after digging which helps to facilitates killing of harmful microbes
  • The pit is filled with upper half portion soil mixing with farm yard manure, adding recommended insecticides
  • The pit is filled 5 cm high above the ground and marked with the peg in the center of the pit
  • Pit should be dug out in summer month if planting is in rainy month and if panting is in February and March pit should be prepared in winter
  • Planting time for evergreen fruit is before or after rainy season, for deciduous fruit planting time is February-March
