Mulato

Introduction

  • Perennial, Tetraploid hybrid with semi-erect growth habit.
  • Stems are strong, cylindrical and pubescent.
  • Capable of rooting when they come in close contact with soil.
  • Seed rate is 4-5 kg/ha if broadcasted.
  • Requires 120:60:20 Kg NPK per ha for a good yield.
  • Has excellent forage production, abundant foliage, vigorous re-growth and excellent palatability.

 

Feed intake and digestion of forages

  • Warm-season grasses produce much edible dry matter, but are typically low in digestibility and have lower forage quality than temperate grown grasses.
  • Has superior herbage mass (HM), herbage allowance rate ( HAR), and nutritive value.

 

Soil

  • Grows vey well in poor soils.
  • Can tolerate water logging and should not be planted in low lying damp areas.
