Dairy House
A. Planning for the Dairy cattle house
- It includes the size and the location of the barn, field ,farm, road, drainage, wind direction ,etc.
- The construction for the cow and cow calf should be safe.
- Location of the fodder and the feed storage building should be included in the barn.
- Milk house should be appropriately located in the plan.
- Size of the herd depends on the quantity of the fodder. As far as possible fodder should be produced in the same farm.
- Future extension of the farm must be kept in the mind.
B. Functional requirements of dairy cattle house
- Space: Static space +biological space+ social space. Static space for sitting or standing, biological space for feeding and exercising and social space for different social activities like herd grouping.
- Sanitation: Floor,walls and alley should be easily cleaned and water supply should be facilitated.
- Environmental aspects Provision of ventilation, thermal insulation, green trees, and grasses should be made.
- Economic aspects: Less movement for the workers, supervision should be considered. Manger alley should be designed systematically and properly.
