Terminologies
- Cleaning: means the removal of undesirable foreign materials from the desired grains/ products and leaves cleaned products for storage and processing.
- Grading: Grading refers to the classification of cleaned products into various quality fraction depending upon the various commercial values and other uses.
- Sorting: refers to the separation of cleaned product into various quality fractions that may be defined on the basis of size, shape, density, texture and color.
- Scalping: Scalping refers to the removal of few large particles in an initial process i.e. immediately after harvesting.
- Screening: Screening is a method of separating grain/seed into two or more fractions according to size alone.
