Introduction :

– Monitoring is checking or inspecting the program to know whether the program is followed according  to plan or not.

– Done for early checkup of the  defaults  in program  so that correction could be taken in time.

– Continuous feedback system.

Objectives of monitoring:

I) To know whether inputs are delivered on time or not.

ii) Identify the problem impeding the smooth running of program.

Iii) To take necessary actions as soon as possible.

iv) To know efficiency and effectiveness of resource use.

Indicator of monitoring :

1. Impact indicator :

– Describes program made towards high level goals.

2. Outcome indicator :

– Measures intermediate results generated by the program outputs.

– change in people’s behavior due to project.

3. Output indicator :

– Measure timeliness , quantity and quality of the project.

4. Process Indicator :

– Measures progress of activities in a program.

5. Input indicator :

– Monitor availability of essential resources.
