Evaluation :

– Determining worthiness / effectiveness of a project ; success or failure of project program.

– Comparing performances with earlier defined objectives.

– Action oriented management system.

 

Project Evaluation :

 Evaluation is one in the following aspects :

a) Effectiveness : did it succeeded in achieving the objective set.

b) Efficiency : the input amount used to get the outputs.

c) Relevancy : Is it compatible with the priority needs/ problems.

d) Impact and effects : Direct and indirect benefits of project.

e) Sustainability : What are the steps followed to sustain the benefits that may be short term or long term ?

 

 

Importance of  evaluation :

a) To ensure the project is ongoing on right direction.

b) Improve effectiveness of a program.

c) Locate strong and weak points of a program.

d) Helps in decision making.

e) Improves skill of extension worker.

 

Steps of Evaluation .

 

  1. Formation of overall objectives
  2. Clarification and specification of objectives
  3. Identifying indicators as the type of evidence that will indicate movements towards objectives
  4. Develop techniques and methods of measuring accomplishments
  5. Consider and decide on the design of the evaluation
  6. Decide on what data are necessary to obtain evidences of achievements of objectives
  7. Select samples and collect data
  8. Organize and analyze data and interpret results
