Terminology related to Horse, Donkey

  1. Gelding: Castrated male of any age.
  2. Hinny: Whose sire is stallion and dam is a female donkey.
  3. Mule: Whose sire is donkey and female is mare ( horse).
  4. Pony: Horse of smaller size measuring less than 13 hands.
  5. Stud: Stallion used for breeding.

 

Terminology related to Yak, Nak and Chauri

  1. Dimazo chauri : Male Kirko x Nak à D. jhopkyo (female) is sterile and D. chauri (male) is fertile.
  2. Nak: Female animal.
  3. Yak x KIrkho/ Khirket/ Joslang ( locally available hilly cow) : Urang jhopkyo (female) and Urang chauri ( male) or jhubruk.
  4. Yak: Male animal.

 

Terminology related to rabbits

  1. Broiler rabbit: Rabbit which grow very fast for meat purpose.
  2. Buck: Mature male rabbit for breeding
  3. Bunny : Young rabbit below 20 weeks of age.
  4. Fryer: 10-12 weeks old rabbit ready for market.
  5. Kilt: Young rabbit whose eyes aren’t yet opened.
  6. Pelt: Skin of rabbit.
  7. Roaster: Culled rabbits.
  8. Achami ccattle: smallest breed in world.
