Different types of hay:

  1. Jungle hay:
  • The reserve forest, community forest and pastures are full of perennial and legumes mixtures.
  • These are multi-cut in nature. These grass are cut and left to dried in jungle.
  1. Sun-dried hay:
  • These hay refers to the hay that are cured in field.
  • These harvested fodder can be processed using three different ways to reduce moisture content; field curing through spreading, field curing through poola system, farm fences method drying, tripod or pyramid method drying.
  1. Barn-dried hay:
  • In this type of processing, forage cut are dried in field enough and baled.
  • These baled crops are shifted to barn where they are dried.
  • Barn, generally used for this purpose have false floor or system to facilitate the air blowing from ground surface with help of draft blowers.
  • Air blown may be heated or unheated.
  1. Dehydrated fodder:
  • This process involves forced hot air circulation for rapid drying of the forages.
