Different types of hay:
- Jungle hay:
- The reserve forest, community forest and pastures are full of perennial and legumes mixtures.
- These are multi-cut in nature. These grass are cut and left to dried in jungle.
- Sun-dried hay:
- These hay refers to the hay that are cured in field.
- These harvested fodder can be processed using three different ways to reduce moisture content; field curing through spreading, field curing through poola system, farm fences method drying, tripod or pyramid method drying.
- Barn-dried hay:
- In this type of processing, forage cut are dried in field enough and baled.
- These baled crops are shifted to barn where they are dried.
- Barn, generally used for this purpose have false floor or system to facilitate the air blowing from ground surface with help of draft blowers.
- Air blown may be heated or unheated.
- Dehydrated fodder:
- This process involves forced hot air circulation for rapid drying of the forages.
