Toxins

  1. Pathotoxins: Produces characteristics disease syndrome. Eg: Victorin
  2. Vivo toxins: Produces few diseases syndrome. Eg: Picularin
  3. Phytotoxin: Don’t produce any disease syndrome. Eg: Alternaric acid.

 

Note: Toxins  are different from enzymes in that they don’t attack structural integrity of host tissue but affect the metabolism of the host.

Toxin hypothesis was given by Luke and Wheeler in 1955.
