Meat vegetable: Mushroom (1970/71)
- 3 recommended varieties of mushroom in Nepal.
i) Button mushroom: Agaricus bisporus
ii) Oyster mushroom: Pleurotus sajor caju
iii) Paddy straw mushroom: Volvoriella volvacea
- Mushroom protein: Lysine (not present in vegetable), Tryptophan
- The digestibility of mushroom protein is about 72-83 %.
- Reproduction in mushroom occurs by spores (basidiospores).
