Climate belts in Nepal

  1. Hot monsoon: They are in the Terai, Bhaber, Churia and Inner Terai with hot and wet summers and mild and dry winters.
  2. Warm temperate monsoon in Mahabharat lekh and beyond up to height of about 2,130m with warm and wet summers and cold and dry winters.
  3. Cold temperate monsoon in Mahabharat lekh and beyond up to height of about 3,350m with mild wet summers and cold and dry winters.
  4. Alpine in higher mountain region up to a height of about 4,870m with a low temperature in summer and extremely frosty condition in winter.
  5. Tundra above the snow line where there are perpetual frost and cold desert condition.
